[Stuff about the LEGO-purity of LL Miniland trains snipped]

People here in LUGNET get miffed when you merely *cut* LEGO or use a non LEGO
sticker, or (God forbid) use clone bricks.

For some reason, this discussion made me think of tabloid humor:

"Scandal! LegoLand's Dirty Little Secret: Miniland built from
      Mega-Bloks!

"Insiders who wish to retain their anonymity, have informed the
Global Star that something is rotten in LegoLand.  Allegedly, not all
of the bricks used to construct the models in Miniland were
manufactured by The LEGO Group (TLG).  Some of the bricks were
      produced by LEGO competitor Ritvik.

"'Their bulk-brick rates couldn't be beat' bemoans a Miniland
building supervisor.  'Because of the Fitness Programme, our budget
had been cut, and we had to save money.  We went with the lowest
      bidder.'

"'Also, there were some colors we just couldn't get from TLG.
Mega-bloks had those colors, and they had a lot of them.'

"Concerns grow for Miniland.  Will it be able to survive the harsh
conditions of Southern California?  Will the next strong breeze on a
sunny day knock it flat?  Only time will tell.  Official sources at
TLG are keeping quiet on this mess."
