Maybe this is just on my layout since it's on the rug and not a 'real' flat
surface.  Last night, I connected the #10001 Metorlinear with the superchief
engine in the front just to see it in motion and I notice that my poor train
could not move it.  The engine(s) kept slipping.  I got a engine on the
front and back of the metrolinear an the middle passanger car.  After this I
picked up the super chief and did notice that it's heavier than my other
cars.  So what is my question?  Well with the super chief being so heavy is
one motor as the instructions show enough to actually pull several cars?
I'm think that perhaps not.  Perhaps an A and B unit with the B unit using 2
motors and the A using 1 might be enough to pull both heavy engines and say
4 cars.  Has anyone tried this or knows the limit of how many cars 1 super
chief with 1 motor can handle?

Dear Ahui,

as written in the other answers more than 2 motors does not appear to be very
helpful.
2 motors (with enough weight on their Back) should be able to pull up to over
100 waggons (has been testet)!

So there are 3 aspects: the 4558 metro liner is not heavy enough. Your
grund surface is worse than discribed or point 3 (and I would recoomend to
check this out):

- it has been mentioned in some other threads before (especially discussed at
the German 1000steine.de board), that the wheel sets of the My Own trains and
the 10001 Legend ML have a quality "problem".

Lots of them do not spin as easy as we have known it so far from the 9V train
stuff. If your metroline has a (few) defected wheelsets, than it is no wonder
the train will have problems in its running behaviour.

Has anybody shared this observetion? None-round wheels, heavy running wheels,
noise making wheels?

Kind Regards,

Ben

<snip> (...) I have one wheel set, older, not related to this newer problem, that makes a small sliding noise, at one point in its revolution. Only problem is I can't pin point the wheel, or possible problem. So far it hasn't effected it though... (...) (23 years ago, 3-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)
