Nope. The more you run them, the better they run. As the contact wheels
turn, they clean the inside edge of the rails. That helps improve the
electrical contact.
One of the biggest problems the GMLTC has is getting the trains running when
we set up for a show. It might have been months since the track was used,
so the first several trips around the layout usually require some hand
pushing. Once the track gets cleaned up a bit, the trains run and run and
run...

| (...) Was thinking more of the contacts inside the motor, which perform a similar function to the sliding 12v contacts, but I guess the same applies to them too. And being totally enclosed would help. ROSCO (23 years ago, 20-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)
