Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff —Jason J. Railton
(...) That's quite impressive, to have both the inset sides and the lettering. But, it only shows the two halves being kept 4 plates apart (5 plates = 2 studs). It doesn't appear to have any way of locking them in place on the body of the wagon. (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

In lugnet.trains, Jason J. Railton writes:>That's quite impressive, to have both the inset sides and the lettering. (...) Look at this: (URL) you see the cross section (upper left),yes, the two halves are linked togther but not to the wagon, but they (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff —Jason J. Railton
(...) Ah, I get it now. Very subtle. By the way, I can now do 1/10 stud offsets! It's a bit small to look any good, but it's possible. You use a 2x1 plate with centre stud. That sets you 1/2 a stud, or 5/10, back from the normal row of studs. Then (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

One-tenth stud offsets (was Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars) —Jason J. Railton
(...) Right, take a look at these pictures. I've set up a row of 1x2 bricks, each set 1/10 of a stud further back than the last: (URL) Anything from 1/10 to half a stud of recess could be concealed inside a 6-wide wagon. Jason J Railton (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: One-tenth stud offsets (was Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars) —Jake McKee
(...) Thanks for the pics. The one thing I am still not fully understanding with all these methods is whether or not there is actually any means of fixed attachment of the bricks on the outside wall. Those 1x2 bricks that are set 1/10th apart, in (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: One-tenth stud offsets (was Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars) —Jason J. Railton
(...) Look to the bottom-left of the orange brick closest to you, and read the last paragraph again. Each brick is sat on a 2x2 plate of the same colour (admittedly, this isn't obvious from the photographs). This connects the light grey hinge or (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff —Tony Hafner
Yargh!! You beat me to it! After the 1/5 stud offset thread, I prototyped some 1/10 stud ideas in MLCAD half the day on Tuesday and then with bricks that night. But I was offline yesterday and just came in today. I still don't have a finished (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)
