Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) Another thing to try: Use the 9V motor to power the IR receiver, and run the PF motor from that. This would require the 9V motor to be disconnected (just use the pick-up), and you'd need to run the train controller at full speed, and make sure (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) I just tried this out on my basement layout. The short answer is no. The 8866 motor has a 9v-style connector on it, so the first thing I tried was connecting a 9v motor to the new motor with a 9v cable. No luck. Next, I tried connecting the 9v (...)   Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) I had a similar idea a couple months ago, but it was more in terms of making 9v steam trains more bump-resistant. See, we did a layout earlier this year where our tables weren't 100% perfectly level. One of the guys had a steam train, which, (...) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) I think the real intent was not so much installing a second motor, but actually powering the PF motor, or even a second PF motor from the 9V rail. Using the 9V truck to pick up power from the track and using the 8886 extension wire to convert (...) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) Interesting idea, Clifton. I would be very interested to see if this works and if it is 'safe' for the motors. One thing to keep in mind though is that 9V motor failure tends to be more tied to the internal power leads that connect the wheels (...) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

The below information was posted on the WAMALTC site. I know the new motors run on a 7.4V as opposed to 9V, but can this work? Ben, I am hoping you can provide some insight. Has anybody tried to use the new motor with an old motor where they (...) (15 years ago, 10-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: C&O H8 Allegheny #1602

(...) Vool loco! It is so realistic that for a moment, it sure looked like an HO scale model to me. Have you made a UP Big Boy 4-8-8-4 yet by the way? (15 years ago, 9-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: C&O H8 Allegheny #1602

(...) I've mentioned it on many other forums, Tony. This MOC is incredible and I am so looking forward to seeing it run at Brickworld 2009. :-) We're just about a week from the event and I am so excited to see all of my old friends and hopefully (...)   Alstom "Cityway" Tram (another one from Turin)

Dear LEGO friends! I'm glad to show you my newest Moc of a tram from Turin. It is the 34-meters Cityway, made originally by Fiat Ferroviaria in the 2001/2 but later by the French Alstom because they bought the Plant of Savigliano (near Torino), (...)   Re: C&O H8 Allegheny #1602

(...) Very nicely executed, Tony! I wish I could see her in person at BrickWorld! I like how you did the front end, and the detail in the cab is a great touch. I built an (URL) several years ago, before even BBB wheels, so I'm familiar with the (...) (15 years ago, 6-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: 8879 no more?

(...) Hi Jordan, Thanks, that's good to know. At least it will be coming back reasonably soon. Presumably the collection will come back along with it. (...) Rich, But, is the 8885 proportional? I thought it was just on/off. I have a couple so I (...) (15 years ago, 3-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 8879 no more?

Glad I ordered mine early! Any word on if there's something that needs to be fixed with the ones that escaped from the factory, or was it solely a production issue? -Stefan- (15 years ago, 3-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 8879 no more?

(...) Steve Witt of LEGO was able to get me a quick reply regarding the 8879 controller. "There was a production problem with that one and it will be released later this summer. there was just a bump in the road on getting it out on time :-) But yes (...)   Re: 8879 no more?

(...) Dave, I noticed this myself. What I did in response to this was get a deal on clearance from TRU for the 4958 (Monster Dino). I has just about everything in there for power functions, except the 8879 controller. What it did have was, the 8885 (...) (15 years ago, 3-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

  8879 no more?

It looks like the 8879 remote and the Emerald Night collection have dissappeared from the Lego shop web site. Has the 8879 remote been pulled already? I did a little searching, and saw that it sends incremental instead of absolute throttle commands (...) (15 years ago, 2-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

  New Wagons

After going to a railway exhibition last Saturday (23rd May), and buying some books, I was inspired to build some new wagons.
