Rusty Freight Car - an experiment

Hi all, Knowing I have an interest in dirty models, Tim David told me to build (URL) this> well kept delight. I'm relatively pleasedish with what I made but would be interested in hearing other peoples ideas on how to improve it as I know it's far (...)   Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

Ok I think I have something. Each cylinder is free to slide longitudinally on the frame. This movement is constrained by a vertical pin (or 1x1 round brick) on each side of the pilot truck. These pins engage a transverse groove (currently a pair of (...) (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A small (and my first) train animation done with MLCad

(...) Hi Ben, Very neat and I imagine from my past povray animation experiments that it was very time consuming. The one problem I have with it is the sky. It distracts from the train in the first few seconds of the animation. Perhaps a smoother (...) (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Nice and smooth, and I believe I may be stealing those connecting rods. Have you worked out what's making the cab window flicker so? (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

A small (and my first) train animation done with MLCad

Hi all, after playing around with nearly all (common) features in POV-Ray - like radiosity, media, fog etc. - I have finally started the latest excurse into working with the clock variable. Here comes my first small animation movie (1.5 MB) of the (...) (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Graffiti Decals

(...) Thanks, Rob. I am not a rtltoronto person but I think some other groups might be interested in these as well. (I know I am!) x-posted to .town & .trains Jonathan (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.town, lugnet.trains)

(...) That's quite neat - it hadn't occurred to me to shorten the front truck like that to make room behind. But then I was trying to fit a motor in the front when I did mine. Jason R (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) snip (...) Actually I wouldn't call that cheating at all, I'd call it compromise. And as far as I'm concerned, compromise is fine (even necessary!) in building LEGO models. I would probably do something like Teunis did in his S-class, but (...) (20 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) Hello Sebastian, The best I've manage to work out on this is with my 4-8-4 Northern engine as shown at: (URL) In this case, I put the leading wheels forward of the steam cylinders. The cylinders stay attached to the same bogie/truck that drive (...) (20 years ago, 4-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) Not sure I can help you much here - I designed my cylinders to be quite flat so they could slide 'twixt motor and soleplate. With small BBB wheels on the front your front truck is lower than a standard motor, but if you say Rosco's are too (...) (20 years ago, 4-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)
