  Re: 9v Train status report.

(...) This is perhaps the case for those of us that already have the essentials to make a LEGO train (track, controler, motor) but it certainly is not what is required to bring NEW people into the hobby. People at the shows and at the store all want (...) (19 years ago, 31-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 9v Train status report.

(...) This may depend on your interpretation of hobby train I guess. I think the purchaser of sets will want the all plastic train and track. I can't recall the last train "set" I bought. But I have bought a lot of track, points, motors, track (...) (19 years ago, 31-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 9v Train status report.

Eric, First off - THANK YOU for the news. (Good to see actual Lego discussion is going on in lugnet.trains.) My initial thought - on reading this news and the other thread about club participation - was "How did we get HERE?" It seemed like there (...) (19 years ago, 31-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 9v Train status report.

(...) So, is LEGO going to actually have any 9v product available during this time to accurately guage the performance of said product? Or will it be just the remains of what they currently have, which most people already have. It seems to me that (...) (19 years ago, 31-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 9v Train status report.

(...) Eric, First and foremost -- thank you. This gathering and reporting of information is exactly the sort of thing I that I imagined the Lego Ambassador program would be useful for. This is also the first time that any ambassador has done (...) (19 years ago, 31-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Trevor the steam traction engine

(...) (URL) photos of the "real" Trevor. I think she is either a 6 or 7 NHP engine, which makes her moderate in size...not too big or too small. (I think also that it is just Foster, not & Rastrick...). I know all about the problems of Lego scale (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 9v Train status report.

(...) Eric- 1. Thanks for all your efforts. 2. Count SCLTC in whenever/wherever/however 3. What does "from 2006" mean when you wrote "LEGO will continue to sell the current 9v system including the train motor, metal tracks and the speed regulator (...)   9v Train status report.

OK, we have been given a limited amount of information that we have been authorized to share. Now I am a fan first and Ambassador second so I am going to give you all the nuts and bolts first. After that I am going to break down each statement as I (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.trains, FTX) !!

Re: Trevor the steam traction engine

(...) Thanks Ross, I actually did a quick brickshelf search just before building mine, and used yours as a starting point. In fact I'd picked up the larger wheels from Bricklink over a year ago, inspired by an your's or another steam tractor I'd (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Anime inspired container train for Soren Roberts containers

And, for that matter, they could stack end-up. In a low-gravity environment, again, probably an OK practice. (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Anime inspired container train for Soren Roberts containers

(...) Equilateral triangle cross section containers stack ok as long as it's fine for 1/2 of them to be upside down... (in a gravity field, in 0g it may not matter)... IIRC, the containers in Silent Running were tetrahedra. ++Lar (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Anime inspired container train for Soren Roberts containers

That's one sweet train! Nice job, and that's pretty quick with the rendering, too! How long has that container been up - a few days? One thing that's been sitting in the back of my mind, gnawing at me: the shape of the container. Every day on the (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Anime inspired container train for Soren Roberts containers

(...) Not yet and probably never. If I'm ever going somewhere with a spacetrain layout I might build a copy but I doubt it would make the clearance. (...) That's something I'm not sure about either. I know the clearance is enough for a six-wide (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Thank you for the clarification Allister, I stand corrected. I'll abort the launch of the hate-rocket until Timmy-G produces a moc worthy of it. -Keith (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Anime inspired container train for Soren Roberts containers

Wow, Timmy G, I was hoping I'd hate this train, but I have to say that it is excellent, and worthy of Soren's containers. I really dig the color scheme you chose for the engine. Do me a favor and post that Rusty Duck moc so that I can fire another (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Anime inspired container train for Soren Roberts containers

(...) That locomotive is beautiful. Have you built it in real bricks? I may build something quite similar if the articulation works well- the wheel covers look like they might be a bit close to the grey center section but I'm not experience enough (...)   Re: 9V Train Motor Being Discontinued?

(...) Having not actually used the new trains, some of this is conjecture. Running one for a weekend on a layout first will give me a better perspective. But.. From what I have seen, I doubt they would be suitable replacements for the existing (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains)
