  Re: Union Pacific M-10000 MOC

(...) Very slick Bob. You've got the curved shape down very well. I was looking at this model this morning on BS and thinking it was nice. I'm curious as to why you did the front grille in grey instead of black or dark grey though. Tim (19 years ago, 23-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains)

  Union Pacific M-10000 MOC

The M-10000 has been on my "to build" list for years. I have finally started putting the ideas that I had to brick. The result is still a work in progress. I have a couple of Bricklink orders on the way. Here is one picture: (URL) information: (URL) (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc)

Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

(...) Guilty as charged. Except that you've failed to account for the fun involved in rivet counting:-) (...) It was a fun and unique design exploration, and appreciated! JOHN (19 years ago, 23-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) This was bugging me as well, so I tried a few things in TrackDraw and came up with this: (URL) 8 straights, 20 curves, one left and one right point. It *nearly* works. There is about a stud overlap on the top right corner. I doubt that this is (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

Hi Mark, (...) I don't but CAD does. I figure those parts are appearing everywhere now so it's only a matter of time before Brickilink reflects their true value. (...) Carriages look good although I don't like the gears too much. Have you thought (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

(...) Is that just super-affluence of red curved slopes or was the carriage affected by a passing dementor? :-) Anyway, to compare notes, here's a link to my 8mm scale Hogwarts Express, a scale model of the Hall class engine (5972 Olton Hall) used (...)   Re: Replacement Wire

(...) The motor... easily, the loco/rolling stock however... :) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) The pics I got at Toy Fair were of preprod stuff (witness the use of a metal railed turnout in old gray), so don't really help. The spoked wheels are there but the motor block on that one appears not to have technic axles: (URL) (and others in (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) I've had a plan for a while now to build a Paris Metro train that runs on racers track using the new IR engine. Unfortunately the baseplate/batterybox design put a a minor dampener in my plan and I'll probably have to wait to get one and try (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) I originally thought that, since the set comes with 2 switches, you could do a smaller half loop in a big one-- Bad ASCII graphix below-- ------ / \ \ | | | | | | \ / / ------ But I think you would need at least 4 spare curves, combined with (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) Presumably you could make something like an articlated lorry, with the motor in the cab and the baseplate for the trailer. If you fitted an anti-jack-knifing mechanism you could get some control through reverse steering too. Then again, you (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

--SNIP-- (...) --SNIP-- Now I see what's wrong with you eight-widers. You try to make things look accurate instead of doing things that are fun. :P Of course a square carriage would have been fine and looked just as accurate if not more so but (...)   Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) The only thing you missed is people saying the same before. ;-) These pics are the first ones where it has been possible to properly see the wheels, they look like cheap BBB knockoffs! (baecause the spokes are only relief mouldings) Pity they (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) As does the points pack. Another two redundant curve pieces. And some people thought that the 8 curves in the standard track pack were a waste... Jason R (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

(...) I have to say I don't think I would bother with it on a Mk1, possibly on a Mk2 built 8 wide.. Tim (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: New Images of 2006 Trains

(...) Thanks Mike and ILTCO! Something just occurred to me and maybe I'm just clueless, but it appears to me that the wheels on the green croc are new, a la BBB small wheels, using a technic axle. Does the ICE train use the same wheel type? And if (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

(...) Wow. Now that is what I call "sub-til";-) I must confess that I don't see much difference, and gauging from the curvature of the Mk1 I would have to say that it is nominal at best and trying to account for it at such a small scale is futile.   Re: Hogwarts Express train - collaboration with James Mathis

(...) I really do love Pedant Alerts! :-) This is news to me, and greatly appreciated! I find that trying to nail down fine details like this is a serendipitous process at best! When building, I may choose to omit certain details for any number of (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
