Re: RCX seems outputs different power levels

(...) snip (...) Well first thing I'd do is try it without ganging the outputs - that's really only required if you're going to be drawing a large current, and it doesn't sound like your trolley does that. ROSCO (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

RCX seems outputs different power levels

Last night I decided to redesign my point to point trolley program. I decided to connect the three RCX outputs in parallel (as suggested by some of LDCC documentation). I also decided to use one of sensor inputs to set the power setting. When I (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: The Great Ball Contraption

(...) (snip) (...) I'm particularly interested in construction details of the hopper car and dumping mechanism. More photos, etc would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to build a hopper that can be unloaded mechanically, without much success (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.trains)

Re: Santa Fe El Capitan Hi-Level

(...) James, I'm in a similar need for split level plates in grey, as I'm woring on a SP 1960 era passenger train. I'm using grey vinyl tape (electrical tape) to cover the sides of a black version. I used yellow tape on a grey 6x28 plate for a ATSF (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

How does LEGO still not know?

Hello all you Train Heads I just got off the phone with Customer service; I was calling about the well-known defective train wheels. Well it seems that the people in customer service still know nothing about this issue. I have personally called in (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 1000 Steine Freschen

These pics are great! Thanks for sharing! These semi-informal get togethers are awesome. The inspiration that comes out of the resultant images are almost overwhelming! I have always wanted to do an over sized building/scene like the magnitude of (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.de, FTX)

  Re: 1000 Steine Freschen

(...) This is is a very creative solution to approximate the way some older DB commuter train wagons had their stainless steel sides grinded. Very impressive IMHO. See this page for pictures of originals: (URL) Specifically this picture gives you (...) (20 years ago, 9-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: So thats where Lego got the idea from

SNIPPY (...) Dammit! I knew I'd missed something :-) Just as it was staring at me in the face...... I've also wondered why lego would make track of that colour. This one ought to go in the FAQ under 'why is 4.5 volt track blue?' It also makes me (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: So thats where Lego got the idea from

(...) Sorry swami, you missed the joke. :) (1) The idea he's referring to isn't the crocodile, read the second sentence of the referenced caption again. (then consider this site: (URL) it gives another clue...) But I do agree the Croc exists in many (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: So thats where Lego got the idea from

(...) Hi Tim, Actually, Crocodiles or 'krokodils' have existed in all kinds of forms in the early days of the electrics. The Lugnet train FAQ, with reference to 4551 also says so: (URL) Even a brickshelf search for Crocodile/Krokodil brings up more (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lessons learned in pre-school

(...) Chris, Thanks for sharing that story! I was laughing as I read it because my own 3 year old daughter loves to take the motors OFF of my locomotive and run the motor by itself on the track. Much faster forward/reverse combinations are possible (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Dash-9 Diesel Engine - Version 2

Looks great Rob! Of course I forgot that it should have been dark green with your original versions (they looked so good "as is"). I was wondering about those 8 studs in front of the cab window. Have you smoothing that over somehow? I have been (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lessons learned in pre-school

(...) Snip Hi Chris, Thanks for sharing that. I really enjoyed hearing about the trials and tribulations of your day. Lots of "grownups" would have issues with just spending a large amount of time with that many "rug rats" never mind allowing them (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lessons learned in pre-school

(...) Yes, that is true, but the box indicates that LEGO isn't aiming the controler at the 4-year old crowd that I was entertaining. Since I often use the 'extra' power, I don't mind that the speed regulator will deliver it. None the less you are (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lessons learned in pre-school

(...) I don't know why LEGO don't provide a voltage regulator. We pay a high price for the power unit and you can get a voltage regulator for a few pounds/dollars. At 9V the train goes too fast at full speed on a normal length of track and a normal (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)
