Re: Reed sensors are not working very well (or too well?)

(...) I had not know of anyone using reed switches with lego before so I don't have any links to info, but I used a standard reed switch, encased in glass. NO (Normally Open). There was a 20 mm and a 25 mm I believe. (...) I've created a trolley (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.trains)

Re: What is the most common color used in our train MOC's?

(...) Click the link, then when it comes up saying unavailable, cut the filename off the end, and go to that page. Then paste the filename back on and you will be there, or just browse the directory directly from there. Play well. Tim Strutt 8^) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: what is the use of a caboose?

(...) I understand why you wouldn't want to comment, but I just thought it was a neat that a LEGO designer might get ideas from LEGO fanatics. If the community knew what MOC's were brought to the summit, then we(I) could speculate in private or in (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What is the most common color used in our train MOC's?

(...) As always with Yahoo/Geocities, they don't let you look at linked pictures, but you can "type" the URL in and it works. Just cut and paste the URL (or you may be able to do what I do at work - click on the URL, get Yahoo's "you can't do that (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Reed sensors are not working very well (or too well?)

(...) Dean, I've put a magnet mounted in the middle of the first car (not the engine or tender). It's vertically just above the wheel hubs halfway between the bottom of the car and the top of the track. The face of the magnet sticks out ever so (...)   Re: Reed sensors are not working very well (or too well?)

I know this has been covered in the past, but can you point me to info on the reed switch used and implmentation notes. Thanks I'm working on a ping-pong line for a trolley and I'd like to try reed switches. I've had troubles with light sensors and (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.trains)

(...) That makes me think...LEGOLand CA has a Big Red on their layout... (URL) MOCs may be red, but steam's fav is black. Ed (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Reed sensors are not working very well (or too well?)

(...) I had the sensor in the center of the track on the bottom. Didn't work too well. I've since asked that it be moved to the side where it can be triggered via the side. I'll be doing testing today on that. Dean (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.trains)

It could be as simple as red is the most availible color; slopes, windows, train plates, brick elements. SteveB (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC Relaunch: Rheingold cars

Adrian, Very nice! I attempted a Rheingold coach too, but mine are much simpler. I couldn't get the stripe across the top of the windows or a recessed door (I guess in 8 wide it could work). I was a little constrained by brick availability, the (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

What is the most common color used in our train MOC's?

I've been doing a lot of LEGO® web surfing over the past week, and of all the colors we use to create our trains- we seem to find red the most agreeable. Can it be that red is an ominous color that gives our 'big' engines size? Or is it a plainly (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  MOC Relaunch: Rheingold cars

Re: MichLUG - GATS Show in Grand Rapids, Michigan - My Report

(...) <snip> (...) I don't think it's a big concern. Odds are if several clubs are getting together to do a layout, each group will have it's own area (if only for ease of setup/teardown). There's also the fact that it's pretty long odds of two (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains.org)
