I can understand why she wouldn’t get Kermit. He was more famous for being on The Muppet Show, and when he was on Sesame Street, a lot of the time he had a trench coat, hat and microphone and was supposed to be a reporter.

He’s supposed to be the only Muppet who has made appearances on both SS and TMS, but yeah, he’s not a character that most people immediately associate with SS.

I’m not sure if they have him on doing the reporter thing anymore, but he used to do it all the time back in the day!

Kermit was retired from SS after Jim Henson died.

Actually, I’m glad you mentioned this about a smaller child not recognizing him. This diorama is possibly going to be on public display soon, and a lot of kids would be seeing it; so, I wouldn’t really want to have anything in there they wouldn’t know. Maybe I’ll rebuild him in the reporter outfit, or just lose him altogether and replace him with Bert or Snuffleupagus.

Ernie does seem a bit incomplete without Bert, but Snuffleupagus might be a bit large for the scene as it currently stands. Maybe if you added another building to either end there’d be room to display him without making the scene look too crowded.

(...) Only in the USA then, in the Netherlands he's still appearing almost every night (yeah I sometimes catch an episode, Ernie & Bert still crack me up) (...) I'd love to see a Bert next to Ernie. Would make them even more easy to recognize. (20 years ago, 3-May-04, to lugnet.town)
