Re: What every lego town is missing....

(...) Ok then, replace Home Depot with Starbuck's. About 5 of them, if your layout is more than 4 blocks. Welcome to Generica! eric (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: What every lego town is missing....

The real world, no kidding. I have been trying to figure out how to model America (as oposed to Europe) for my train layout and it just hit me. It is really a sad commentary on us (US) but it still works! I have a Circuit City almost complete and a (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: What every lego town is missing....

While I do agree that these are great models (I thought it was a picture of a real home depot in the brickshelf gallery thumbnail), I have to disagree that every lego town needs one of these. I typically model dense urban areas where these stores (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.general)

What every lego town is missing....

I can't take credit for this but I just needed to point it out because I like these designs and I even thought of doing the same thing too. I think this is what would complete any lego town. (URL) (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.general)

  Re: town wishlist 2001 (2002???)

(...) Well I know I may be a little late putting this out, but I would just love it if Lego would put out a line of realistic NASA lego sets. I've only got the six Launch Command sets(not including the accesories package), and that only gives me one (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

  Re: town wishlist 2001 (2002???)

(...) I'd love that, but I'd also like them to merge town and space--a Future City 2050 kind of thing. Lots of domes and future-looking buildings--an Art Deco/metropolic look would be really cool! Lots of curved pieces; a return of the curved pieces (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

  Re: town wishlist 2001 (2002???)

Modularisation I think has to be the way forward, so that a small set can function perfectly on its own, but when combined with a larger set provides enhanced playability. Designing sub-ranges that link together like the examples you site (including (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: Americana - new building for PDX GATS

Steve & All, (...) You have some excellent creations, I love the Target & Home Depot as well. It really captures the essence, especially the carts for Home Depot. Very nice touch. Too bad LEGO doesn't make a normal shopping cart! (...) Hey, those (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.town)

Re: Americana - new building for PDX GATS

Peter, Thanks for the comps! The windows are those big ugly 2x6x6 freestyle (pseudo-fabuland) windows that we never know what to do with. :) The door are 2x4x5 that normally house solid 6 panel doors. And I need to flush out some more detal as well. (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.town)

Re: Americana - new building for PDX GATS

(...) Wow! People are relpicating my McDonald's! I'm honored... Larry's pix don't show it, but mine does have a drive-thru--you can kinda see it on the left side at (URL) of table unevenness at the GATS, we didn't actually have cars at the (...)   Re: Town details make the difference...?

Hi Dave, When i build a town i try to think of what i would like to see in the town if i was a minifig. Nice tree's some grass, always a park for the kids with a few benches for the old folks, maybe if enough room a lake or pond, build a swimming (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: no new town sets in 2001??? :-(

(...) I think all of the lego sets are getting to juniorized, peices are getting to specialized, and cheep, there are around 5 sets per theme. TLG is making a big mistake with all there juniorized sets, even Technic is getting cheep. Josh (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: Town details make the difference...?

(...) I think to not add them would also make a town very, very boring, not to mention very plain, and not very nice looking. Trees, flowers, and "greenery" are essential to get that "Town Feeling" in the lego layout....unless you want to go for the (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

  Re: town wishlist 2001 (2002???)

You know with the Lego Group, they'll always churn out an emergency type set out every year in the town theme. That is a given...Fire Fighter's HQ and lift truck (circa 2000) were the last sets out in the "emergency sub-theme"... its probably time (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

  Re: town wishlist 2001 (2002???)

This is going to be long... Emergency Services: I would like to see a full compliment of emergency services vehicles and buildings; fire station, hospital and police station. The buildings shouldn't be as grandiose as the most recent monster police (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

  Town details make the difference...?

To what extent do people add details and spice to their town layouts? Do you all put in trees, flowers, lampposts, benches, fences, and trash recepticles in? I know that I am trying to add alot of the little things, and if you all had some good (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)
