I get the feeling that the 1998 soccer sets were a success and that prompted
TLG/TLC (or whatever they refer to themselves as now) to introduce Futbol.
Last years sets came with instructions for three different soccer games but
to be honest they didn't set the world on fire.
Futbol seems to be extending the play value of this type of theme although
the sets themselves pale in comparison to what was on offer last year.
From memory the numbers of last years sets where in the 3301 to 3320 range.
