Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Paul Davidson
Mine doesn't. If he's on a surface with friction, he just sort of jumps backwards and lands on his back or his head. If he's on a smooth surface, his feet kick out behind him and he hits his face on the ground. Have I done something wrong here? Must (...)      Mine doesn't either. The torso "pops" but there's nothing I can see that causes the legs to "pop" at the same time as they should. -- -Steven "Nothin' But Net!" (URL) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Phil Watt
I'm not so sure it was designed to pop-up from a table surface. In the picture on page 52, I see the kid's hand holding it from the head when he pushes the "button". -Phil (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

(...) I don't think it was meant to pop up from a surface, either. Mine pops up fine if I'm holding it. I can't seem to get mine to stand, though, unless I put his arms sticking straight out and towards the back, for balance. I want to double check (...)     (...) I'd say you're correct. Mine will stand up, but the slightest jolt will send him topeling over. :) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Paul Davidson
Hm, mine is quite sturdy when it stands. That was the one thing I was happy about. :) -- Paul Davidson Jason Brown <jmbrown@mines.edu> wrote in message news:387F0B13.5029EC...nes.edu... (...) up (...) unless I (...) want (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Steven Vore
Which direction does the green "heel" go on yours? Does it "point" downwards or rearwards? Mine had been downward-pointing, which I thought odd but that's the way I read the directions. Topple-city. I changed it to point rearward and now he's fairly (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

(...) the directions as it point downward. I'll have to go fix it now and see if it works. Thanks for the suggestion! -Jonathan (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Paul Davidson
The heels point downwards. I double-checked this when I was assembling it, since it seemed awkward. But with both legs, mine stands very well. I can even bump him around on my desk, and he slides instead of falling over. -- Paul Davidson Steven Vore (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Jonathan Little
(...) I realize that the instructions have the green "heel" part pointing down, but mine would not stand like that. I keep it folded up on the shelf because it won't stand. When I made the change that was suggested earlier about pointing the green (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Peter Vogel
Mine --- er, "my daughter's" (it was her birthday gift after all :-), stands just fine, with the heel pointing down. In fact, with the heel flat, he would probably topple backward. He really is quite stable standing. On the other hand, regarding the (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)

Re: Does anyone else's Pit Droid not "pop" up properly? —Phil Watt
If you look at the design, there is a half-pin around the ancle or calf that keeps the thigh from over extending. Mine (at first) had a problem standing, with the knee joint being slightly out and the half pin did not prevent it from over rotating. (...)
