Have there been two versions of <set:8862>?
I noticed that someone wrote in the comments to this set [1] that it has "all
yellow cylinders" and on Gaurav Thakur's review site it actually appears with
yellow cylinders but in all the other pictures I could find (lugnet, brickset,
brickshelf) it has the usual cylinders (yellow & black).

Does anyone have any more information about this?
Does any other set have these "all yellow" cylinders?

Thanks,
- David

Hey I also noticed that little thing with the cylinders. The 8862 Backhoe
Grader I got was slightly strange; it showed the yellow cylinders on the box
and manual but came with the black pistons. I believe this change took place
sometime around 1990, since an 8854 Power Crane (initially released during
the same year) I got both showed and came with black pistons. I contacted
the sellers just out curiosity to find out when they bought the original
sets (they were still unopened when I got them); the 8862 was bought early
in 1990 while the 8854 was purchased a bit later in the same year. This
thing is kind of similar to that 8865 Auto Chassis motorization issue I
talked of a few months ago but definitely more subtle. ;-)

BTW the pumps that come with the 1989 sets also have the yellow lining
rather than the black type, and at least in my experience, they seem to be
slightly stiffer to push than the new ones. The spring does not seem to be
able to extend the pump the whole way after a push (probably due to
friction); this was probably corrected with the 1990+ version.

I really need to update that website soon; school takes up too much of my
time these days. :-( Hopefully I can get some more reviews up during winter
break. :-)
