I once (like 15 years ago) got a defective LEGO part. It was a 14 teeth
bevel gear which seemed to have an insufficient amount of ABS injected,
making it useless. Of course, LEGO consumer service are more than happy
to replace defective parts like that.
Overall, I'd say the LEGO Company has very good quality controls.

| I bought a 8252 Beach Buster for my nephew this Christmas. To my dismay as we were building the set together, we found that one part, the 'Technic Steering Arm with Connector (MLCad name)' had a defect. It had a molded 'preconsumer' part coming out (...) (25 years ago, 26-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)
