  Mindstorms without PC

Technic fun with the Mindstorms programmable bricks that do not require a PC: the Scout and the Micro Scout. They run built-in programs controlled mainly by sensor input. Their sets also include many newer Technic parts. The Micro Scout comes in 2 (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics.microscout, lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Re: Super Street sensation 8448

I thought the 8448 had been discontinued, that's what Lego S@H told me. My dampened shocks broke, I got replacements and one of the replacements have the same number as the defective ones. Anyone know if the new generation should have different (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Just got 8007/C3PO

I made a stop by Target today to make sure they hadn't lowered their clearance prices anymore, and they had the 8007 C3PO. $29.97. I just got through assembling the set. First my rants :) This set would have been much better if there had been more (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Super Street sensation 8448

(...) I don't know, but the 8448 disappeared from S@H magazines down here in the US. However, it is still available on the website. I just built mine today =), and for myself I am wondering if the shocks will break, considering I purchased it about (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Pre-1995 strong pieces/attachments

(...) It might be a couple of things: - A newer, slightly more pliable breed of ABS is being used. It is more readily available, holds it's color better, is available in more colors (rather than having to add a lake [dye] to the ABS beads), and (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Pre-1995 strong pieces/attachments

(...) ... Well, since you only mention Technic sets, I can only assume you're referring to the change in friction pins. I don't know exactly when this occurred (since the mid 90's was my LEGO Dark Ages) but I'm sure somebody on here does. Anyway, if (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Pre-1995 strong pieces/attachments

This could just be something to do with the sets I have, but I noticed that many sets before 1995 seem to have really stiff and strong pieces. They take a lot more strength to join but once connected, they stay on very tightly. Some models I got in (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Millenium Slizer Alterations

I saw that this was on sale at Target for 50%, so I went there but they didn't have ANYTHING on clearance. At that point I (for whatever reason) still wanted the set so I stopped at TRU and got it for full price. About the "big version": junk. I (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: bionicle

I too like these Bionicles! It'd be cool if we were simply able to get them right now, as I need all of them. Besides the six larger ones (called Toa) and the six smaller ones (called Turaga) I also heard of vehicles and even more village peoples (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Super Street sensation 8448

Does anyone has any clue if set 8448 (super street sensation) will be discontinued soon? I live in Montreal and besides S@H Lego, is there any other wa to purchase this set? S@H is usually too expensive. Example: go at www.walmart.com and you will (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Backlash in Lego Gear Trains

(...) Yes, I think so. In fact, I think they have significantly more friction when grinding than the "old" gears. And by the way, when using both the new and old style gears in a gear train, I find that there is almost too much friction. Do anybody (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Micro-motors and fiber optics

(...) The Pitsco-DACTA on-line store has them. (URL) Look under [Spare Parts, Tools & Resources]>[LEGO Dacta Spare Parts]>[Motors]. They are $10.25 + $6 shipping (for orders under $100, 6% after that) in the US. I recently placed a largish order, (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: Micro-motors and fiber optics

(...) Yes indeed, this can be a bit of a pain at times. However, there always seems to be a way round it somehow! I ordered one of the service packs from Dacta (9959) the other day, price around 6 UKP, which seems to have the top and bottom pieces (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Where to buy 8448?

(...) Hi James I am Thomas From Montreal. I've been looking around many stores to find this model (8448) but it seams very hard to find.
