Technic fun with the Mindstorms programmable bricks that do not require a
PC:  the Scout and the Micro Scout.  They run built-in programs controlled
mainly by sensor input.  Their sets also include many newer Technic parts.

The Micro Scout comes in 2 sets: the Dark Side Developers Kit 9754 and the
Droid Developers Kit 9748.  The Droid set's instructions come on a
PC-readable CDROM, but the programmable brick does not use a PC.

The Scout comes in the Robotics Discovery Set 9735.

You can use light to control built-in programs that depend on the input from
the light sensors in the Micro Scout and Scout.  The Scout also has touch
sensors.
