Are there any technic sets of recent vintage (up to 4 or 5 years) that had a fair number of large(ish) green beams ? Why I want these: I found an 8862 Backhoe Grader in a consignment store the other day. Its about 98% present (missing a couple of (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

I s'pose. But it's not really a keyboard, then, unless you can get each key to set the sensor to the appropriate position... And it's always gonna be limited to monophony unless you can get multiple RCXs to talk to each other...oh, no, I feel (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

I think this is an understatement. I think it would be a huge challenge to build something strong enough. A piano key, however, would be a really cool project. Hmmm. I imagine a piano action wouldn't be out of the question, either. The main problem I can see is with the strings - if you're looking at 4 octaves, thats 48 fairly tight strings, which is going to put a fair bit of strain on whatever base you (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

Myself being a keyboardist, I've been seriously considering making a single manual harpsichord (with the strings non-LEGO, of course). I've worked out workable mechanisms for the key action. However, it'll take a while to collect the parts for 4 (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)
