Has anyone made a musical instrument out of Lego? I've searched around and I
haven't seen anything. I'm not sure what sort could be made. Lego isn't
air-tight enough for a wind instrument, it damps out vibration, it has nothing
bell-like, no obvious drum head. Has anyone thought of anything clever?

(...) Nothing particularly clever... but it should be possible to "tune" one of the electric motors and play notes from an arbitrary scale on it. The faster you drive the motor, the higher the frequency emitted, and vice versa. This works really (...) (24 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

You may be able to make an electronic keyboard using an RCX, but you'd have to use some non-lego to get any decent range of notes.... ROSCO (...) (24 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Using a non-lego element(ie fishingline) a harpsichord could work. Deap sound box under vs a soundingboard should give air room to spread and amplify a bit. Might try it myself.
