Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) I have a couple questions: Where did you get it? Was it worth the US$160? Are there any actual silver parts, or are there just silvery-grey side panels? BTW, you can soften the 8448 suspension even further by substituting standard shocks for (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) In catalog pictures, I see a guy in it with a helmet that looks unlike that of a normal (Technic) figure. Does it have a new figure? Alan (25 years ago, 13-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) Can someone please make pictures (photos, instruction scans or whatever) for any genuinly new parts in this set, I want to know what these new suspension parts look like. (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

So tell us, what are the technical details? What kind of engine? Does it have a gearbox? Any interesting functions like adjustable rollbar, etc? (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Suspension

(...) You are certainly correct about this, but as the travel of the suspension is relatively short, the effect is not a problem. The setup really is very smooth. By the way, I've changed the menu on the page now, and added some 'vintage' models (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.build)

Sounds incredible. Can you make some photos of it?? I am very curious. I hope mine arrives soon too. Greetings, Eelco Kooiker (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

I have just finished making it. It is stunning. It dwarfs last year's super car, at nearly 70cm long. It is also more challenging to make -- the pieces are all 'jumbled-up' like the old days, not all pre-sorted for each sub-assembly like 8448 :-) I (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Building help required on 8094

HI Eelco, Thanks for the scans.........they confirmed that I was building correctly.........and then I noticed that i was using the "new" type of half gears (or whatever they are called). So I searched thru my box for the old type half (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Building help required on 8094

Hi Eelco, Difficult to explain.... but with both the half gear and the small gear wheel on the little 4 axle....everything is jammed. I can see that 8 axle turns the half gear on the 4 axle which also has the little gear (which drives the two big (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Building help required on 8094

Hi Tim, I have build the crane many times and haven't got problems anytime. But you say the little gear wheel may be the problem. Can you give some more details? The only thing I can invent is the #8-axle, which is not allowed to reach out the (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Building help required on 8094

Hi Legonauts, I am building 8094 alternate.........the crane bit and am totally stuck in step 19. I put substeps 1 2 and 3 together and everything jams. The problem seems to be the little gear wheel. What am I doing wrong ? (URL) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Suspension

(...) Your approach is certainly very interesting! Honestly, I didn't know what a DeDion axle was, but I do now. :-) The design is probably very efficient and low frictiony, like you say. And keeping the differential fixed makes the rest of the (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.build)

  Re: Suspension

(...) Ah, yes! A custom made independent suspension, much like the one on 8448 or 8865. This approach will need no less than four universal joints. I think that it prevents the width of the vehicle from being narrow, so I've never used this approach (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.build)

  Re: LEGO Service, questions.

I don't know about all pneumatics, but I know that the 5099 pneumatic switches are still available here in Sweden; I just ordered a lot of them.
