  Re: Stupid Throwbots question

You're right. There are no instructions for some of the segments in the combined Throwbots. One can only guess it's left as an exercise for the student. It's not terribly difficult to figure out once you get into it, but the only tricky part is that (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Stupid Throwbots question

Forgive me if this isn't the right group to ask this question in...there doesn't seem to be a dedicated Throwbots group on Lugnet. I just finally completed my collection of first-year Throwbots, with the hopes of being able to make the giant (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Gluing broken bricks

(...) As can almost anything "plastic": the primary active ingredient in nail polish remover is acetone. Nasty stuff, to be used with caution. I'm not sure what it'll do to ABS, but I wouldn't do the test on any piece I cared about... Ran (25 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Gluing broken bricks

A small addendum to this. Most cyanoacrylates can be dissolved off with nail polish remover. It seems to be the same stuff that emergency wards use to remove the superglue. Cheers ... Geoffrey Hyde Thomas D Fulk Jr <tfulkjr@mail.idt.net> wrote in (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  8448 Supercar mods

I was inspired by Jeff Boen in this thread: ttp://www.lugnet.com...ad/?n=3888 to modify my 8448 Supercar. Here's what I did: 1. swap out all 13 red #12 axles for black (I only did this to steal the red axles for another project but it looks pretty (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Gluing broken bricks

I have used with success (This is a US Brand, but read on) Loctite 495. This is a "professional" type of Cyanoacrylate glue, AKA Superglue in America. Go to your hobbyshop and get a high quality Cyanoacrylate, as the Discount store variety is not (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  a bit of a description of 8279 "4-WD X-Track"

After asking S@H about some Technic release dates (8457, 8458 - August 18; 8279 - August 21), I asked if they had any sort of description of 8279. Oddly enough, they do: (I guess S@H is the only place that does?) 456 (I think) parts, $70-something, (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Gluing broken bricks

I read in a previous posting that the writer felt it was wrong to use a glue that disolves the plastic material. I believe that that is an incorrect statement. I have been using MEK based glue to attach bricks to each other for a while now. You need (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Gluing broken bricks

Since LEGO is made of ABS I have purchased a can of ABS plumbing pipe adhesive. I have not yet tried it, but have read to use it sparingly as an excess could cause warpage. Dave (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)
