Re: MOC: Kennedy Space Center Crawler/Transporter

(...) Great stuff. "Hardcore" and original. I wonder which costs you more: the rare tank tracks or the RCXs. Do you have an internal light source in your tower? If you sensor depends on external light then the inaccuracy of light sensors would be (...) (25 years ago, 24-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: MOC: Kennedy Space Center Crawler/Transporter

(...) ...stunning... way cool... I will be studying this model for some time, both the techniques to reinforce a huge technic structure like that as well as the mechanical details of the movement. The write up is great! congratulations on an (...) (25 years ago, 24-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

Mark Haye wrote in message ... (...) Well done! This is one of the largest Technic MOC's I've seen. (...) Just curious: What is the maximum weight that the platform can safely carry? (i.e. without damaging parts) John (remove the obvious to reply) (25 years ago, 24-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Black rubber bands in old sets... any replacement source?

If you can deal with a non-LEGO solution <shudders>, you should be able to pick up a large variety of 'o' rings at your local hardware store. Surely one of the sizes available will fit your application. Build On! John Matthews (used to work in a (...) (25 years ago, 23-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Black rubber bands in old sets... any replacement source?

Well, I don't know if you specifically need rubber bands with round or square cross-sections, but the 8001 Destroyer Droid seems to have lots of extra square cross-section bands in a variety of sizes. (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

Black rubber bands in old sets... any replacement source?

Just a quick question... I have an old 8858 Engines set (A reward I got for good grades on my 3rd grade report card :) It originally had 3 black rubber bands to serve as belts, but 2 are long broken and the 3rd isn't in great shape. Has anyone (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  MOC: Kennedy Space Center Crawler/Transporter

I'd like to announce the completion of my latest LEGO construction: A working model of the Kennedy Space Center's Crawler/Transporter. The KSC Crawler/Transporters have treaded "crawlers" that support an automatically leveled platform on which the (...)   Re: Fibre Optic Question

(...) A few notes and some opinions on the sets mentioned... Even though it's not a Technic set, the 6979 would probably be a good cheap choice for a fiber optic unit to experiment with, as it comes with a battery box, micro motor and needed wiring. (...)   Re: Fibre Optic Question

8480 8456 I'm sure I've missed many. I'm parting out 5 8480s right now, won't need to keep all of the fiber optic units. If you want one, look at my Wants at (URL) for stuff I'd want in trade. (...) -- Tom Stangl ***(URL) Visual FAQ home ***(URL) (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: ZNAP Hints?

(...) A little twist and bend works for me. Twist to between 30 and 60 degrees, then pull and bend a little. They do stay together nicely, don't they ;-)? Wayne my correct e-mail is eskimo2@worldnet.att.net (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Fibre Optic Question

(...) One thing to be aware of, Craig. Only one of the eight fibers is lit at any one time - thus the need for a "rotation" source. This was a bit misleading when pictured on the LEGO brochures and boxes. Wayne (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Fibre Optic Question

I think the cheapest set to get the fiber optic kit is the Extreme Creature for Mindstorms. However, as somebody mentionned, you won't get the power source and the motor to rotate it. If you already have a technic motor, you can go ahead and buy the (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Fibre Optic Question

(...) As far as I know, the only sets with them are the 8480 space shuttle and 8456 fiber-optic multi set. You need to provide two things for the fiber-optics to work. First is power to the fiberoptic module, and the second is a rotation source (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Fibre Optic Question

(...) Oh yeah, as a continuation, on Baylit there is a fibre optic block along with some tubing, is this all that is needed to experiment with this system? (i.e. what exactly does this system involve?) Thanks (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Fibre Optic Question

Can anybody tell me the list of Technic Sets that had the fibre optic system in them? Can you buy just the fibre optic system anywhere?
