  Re: Fibre Optic Question

(...) As far as I know, the only sets with them are the 8480 space shuttle and 8456 fiber-optic multi set. You need to provide two things for the fiber-optics to work. First is power to the fiberoptic module, and the second is a rotation source (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Fibre Optic Question

(...) Oh yeah, as a continuation, on Baylit there is a fibre optic block along with some tubing, is this all that is needed to experiment with this system? (i.e. what exactly does this system involve?) Thanks (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Fibre Optic Question

Can anybody tell me the list of Technic Sets that had the fibre optic system in them? Can you buy just the fibre optic system anywhere? I am not usually a Technic person, but I have some rather cool ideas for the use of this system and would like a (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  ZNAP Hints?

I've just bought two ZNAP kits on TRU buy one get one 50% off. I think it's a good deal, I got two motors with two battery boxes and wires, some flexible axles, and tons of ZNAP pieces for $30. I have no regrets, but I find the ZNAP pieces VERY (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: micro motor jam

(...) Nope, I'm wrong. Turns out a planetary gear arrangement is a sort of coaxial non-reversing gear reduction thingy good for high torque applications and resistant to skipping... um, well there's a diagram of one at (URL) near the bottom of the (...)   Re: micro motor jam

(...) Yeah, I think they should be called planetary gears too, but I am just about as sure as you are... The gears are supposed to move in a certain fashion, but their fit is so loose that it is easy for the teeth of the gears to step on top of each (...) (25 years ago, 16-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

But from my cursory investigation it appears that the micromotors use an unusual arrangement of gears, which I think is called a planetary gear. As far as (...)   ZNAP Motor deal?

I just got back for TRU. Looks like ZNAP have landed in town (Crearwater, Florida)! I’m not impressed with the sets and it look like they are taking up most of the Technic shelf space. But there may some good parts in these sets: EX: 3552 Hover-Sub (...) (25 years ago, 15-Apr-00, to lugnet.znap, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Alternative construction with 8445 Indy car

Hello, I have a 8445 technic set. I have build the 3rd altanative construction (4 wheels and steering wheel) and I want to build the top shown in the instruction book, but the picture is so small. Anybody got a larger picture, so I can see how the (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: micro motor jam

(...) When I took a jammed micromotor apart, I could not find any thermal cutoff circuitry at all. What I did find was that the internal gears use very small teeth, but there was enough freeplay in the gears' rotational axis that it was easy to get (...)   RE: micro motor jam

(...) Yep. It's a common problem. I have 3 of them and they all tend to fail this way. Be careful that you don't actually JAM the motor. Ther is a little thermal cutoff that you can actually hear clicking when the motor is overloaded. It might take (...) (25 years ago, 13-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)

  micro motor jam

Hey all, Anyone notice a problem with the little red motors jamming? Working on a project of mine, I found that if it runs one way, until it cannot move any more, it can't back up either - I have to push it manually, then it can move again. Is it (...) (25 years ago, 13-Apr-00, to lugnet.technic)
