Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

(...) I agree, but unfortunately my computer does not! My CAD version of the Sydney Harbour Bridge now exceeds the ability of my somewhat antiquated computer to render it (even in MLCad). So until I upgrade, it remains about 3/4 complete in a bunch (...) (21 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains)

Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

(...) I second that! TJ, CAD'ing your creations is very important. Especially, before you recycle for the parts. If you have not used it or would like to find out more information, let me know.   Re: Advice from crane builders (was: Blimey)

(...) I agree with Steve. HOG it! Besides, your MOC will have so many mechnical parts, eliminating the A-frame cylinders will make it more simple and your life easier, IMO. -TJ (21 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Advice from crane builders (was: Blimey)

(...) Well on my crane I went straight for the HOG approach, I didn't actually find out how the A frame was raised on the prototype until after completion. I did consider retrofitting a solution but the prototype utilised a big fat multi telescopic (...) (21 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: Advice from crane builders (was: Blimey)

(...) OK, I wanna ask some advice on this one from the big crane builders (yeah that's you!!) I was aiming to be able to lift the a-frame mechanically, but so far have found no solution. I would have liked to use pneumatics, but with the a-frame (...) (21 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Pneumatic Cylinders

(...) You should also try with another cylinder to blow air into the pump while it is fully retracted (or being retracted). Otherwise your testing will not reveal a defective non-return valve. The air inflow in the pump through the nozzle should be (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

What can you do with a 8460?

With the buying frenzy surrounding 8438 subsiding as this second reissue being sold out as well, it is time to ponder: What can you do with a 8460/31/38 set? Anyone who has built something out of the 8460 please reply below. When I first thought of (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)
