I would somewhat disagree... based on two points:
1) I don't think this type of info is that easily found. Now this is just my
feeling, not really a statistic based statement. The only *decent* site I've
ever found that presented a nice introduction to mechanisms was this one:
http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~rapidproto/mechanisms/tablecontents.html (1)
I would love for people to share links to others, as I'm sure this can't be the
only one of this type. But clear, concise and accurate information, of this
type seems to be the exception on the web, rather than the rule.
2) The LEGO design catalog that I'm hoping for would include much much more
than this. More than just mechanisms and gears etc. All about arches, columns
and beams. More info about automotive components. Things about cranes and
bridges.... etc. etc.

I agree on this point. In fact, I'd like to see a form of this infopedia
include no Mindstorms stuff at all. Not that there's anything wrong with it,
but just that some of us don't find much interest in it. Yes, I'm sure I could
just skip past those parts, but since we're dreaming up stuff, let's go hog
wild.

I agree, but as noted above, I think there's room for this information.... plus
much more.

Mine is meant as overall grumpy criticism and nagging. ;)
All the best!

(1) Thank goodness these old university links never seem to expire. I'm sure
Tim Berners-Lee is happy. :)
