New MOC: Car chassis —Alastair Disley
This is my attempt to compress the features of classic car chassis into a much smaller one, to hopefully fit inside 14 wide model cars. It's still a bit wider than that, so ideas for further compression are welcome. It features a V6 engine, gearbox (...) (21 years ago, 17-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Car chassis —Luis Hernández
(...) Cool... It reminds me of my little sports car (See Cool New MOCs page), which the hardest part was fitting all those mechanisms in that tiny car... and creating those mechanisms from other parts (problem that I think I'm the only one who has (...)    (...) Yes - the problem was not the width of the rear axle (it should be possible to shave off abother 2 studs there and retain independent suspension) but the steering mechanism at the front, with the wheels against the cylinder block on full lock.      (...) Which parts are you talking about? If you're talking about the special suspension parts on 8858/8465 or the ones from 8466.... I don't have either those parts.         Re: New MOC: Car chassis —Max Maxwell
(...) What if you used an inline four engine design instead of the V6? It should allow the front chassis, and therefore the steering rack, to be not as wide. I don't really think it would affect the realism of the model. Actually, if it's not (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Car chassis —Alastair Disley
(...) True. It would increase the height a little, which depending on the bodywork might not work, and the steering might have to be offset. I was originally designing it to go inside an E-type model, so a V6 or V8 would be appropriate there. I (...) (21 years ago, 11-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)
