Re: 8448 - impressions and modifications

(...) If you are talking about the bit thats used in the reverse gear, there are 2 in orange(!) on the boss roborider. As for use in MOCs, its in the gear box of my 4wd ute. (although thats a modified 8448 gearbox) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: good prices on Dacta Technic sets

(...) Well, as of yesterady, they've sold out. Not unexpectedly. I managed to raise one each of the 9605 and 9609. Thanks again. (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.dacta, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: 8448 gearing problems

(...) I ripped the gearbox apart and tried again, and I think I solved it - the motor I had on the mountings behind the engine to drive the gearbox was a bit loose so I'd added some plates to hold in place, and I think one of them was catching on (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

While we are on the subject of the 8448: I finally got one through S@H the other week and have to say I'm glad I reassessed it after getting a Silver Champion. For a long time I was avoiding both because I thought the new panels were awful, silly (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: FT vs LEGO pneumatics (was: extensions from hitechnicstuff)

(...) Of course not. I was only saying of myself in jest. (...) Certainly, sets are to be enjoyed whichever you like. (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: 8448 gearing problems

(...) Agreed. I remember my 8448 as being very smooth when it was built, and I was able to motorise it using the older 9V ungeared motor no problem. If my memory is correct I geared the motor down by 9:1 before the gearbox, and it would even start (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8448 gearing problems

(...) I think it sounds like you have a problem with a stuck axle or something like that. Try to see if all the axles in the gear box run smoothly. Notice that in every gear position, _all_ the gear cogs in the gear box spin when the wheels are (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

"Johannes Keukelaar" <johannes@nada.kth.se> wrote in message news:j0owv0wtb86.fsf....kth.se... (...) Thanks. I thought it might have been me, but after reading all the posts about the problems with the pneumatics I thought I'd ask. Dan (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)
