  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) I would agree, it's much more in-line with the way I think and build... but that's at least partially due to my history with LEGO. My 6-year-old son uses both styles, and even in his "regular" (non-technic) builds incorperates the pin and SNOT (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) It is my belief that Technic studded beams will always be around, as long as technic is around. There are too many advantages of studded beams over studless beams for them to go away. So for me that is a non-issue. Studless beams have (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Purpose of part 32072

(...) It is a gear that is highly resistant to slip. Since the teeth interlock so much it cannot slip without a very huge failure. Kevin (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) Hi Jindrich, I have the advantage that my first set as an adult was the RIS. This comes with studded and studless beams. I started out using both, so the whole studless beam issues is not an issue for me. I've made a *lot* of MOCs with (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Studless Technic models

(...) I'm curious about your question. When you ask about Technic bricks being replaced by the studless beams, do you mean that you don't think there are any studded bricks out there at all? If so, perhaps you should try some of the Designer sets or (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Studless Technic models

Hi, last of my today's spam flood ;-) As I've built Backhoe yesterday, I still don't get that Lego move. Why did they replace _ALL_ technic bricks with studless beams? I think that the beams have 'right to live', for styling the outer parts they're (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Purpose of part 32072

Hi, anybody understands real purpose of part 32072: (URL) built backhoe yesterday and I still don't get it, why they haven't used something more traditional there? It would have been 'slower'? Is something like that used in the real world? (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Part colors?

Hi, I got my 8455 Backhoe out of the box yesterday. What puzzled me were strange colors of some parts. In older Technic sets, some colors were tied to parts, for example 32002 (technic pin 3/4) was always DkGray. Now it seems that all odd lengths (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)

New MOC: 1:18 scale BMW M5 Sedan

Ever since winning a pen at Brickswest two years ago, I've wanted to use the round segments in a MOC. Last semester, I finally got around to Brasso-ing off the letters.   Re: What is the difference between... ?

Re: Has anyone ever attempted to do a LDRAW of 8868 compressor truck?

(...) I'm sorry, I missed that one when I audited the inventory. I guess that's the only part in the set not currently authored. I don't have that part otherwise I'd make it for you. Maybe someone else can? -Orion (21 years ago, 14-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.cad)

Re: Has anyone ever attempted to do a LDRAW of 8868 compressor truck?

(...) Hi Orion, When I try to look for part 4267 (the big tyres) in the parts tracker, I get this: "Library subdirectory must be included in the filename" I tried it with another more common part and it worked. (21 years ago, 14-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.cad)

Has anyone ever attempted to do a LDRAW of 8868 compressor truck?

Because I saw none on brickshelf. Does such a ldraw model exist yet? I saw plenty of supercars and old technic sets but no 8868 or 8862. If not, I may attempt to create a ldraw file of the 8868 truck once I get started with the ldraw utilies. The (...) (21 years ago, 13-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.cad)
