Ah, the age old question...
I'm still stuck on using bins, for the reasons that I mostly just don't want
to sort down to the "all white 1x4's in this box/bin/drawer", and this
method is very easy to move...(I've already moved my collection 3 times in 4
years) I've got large scale rubbermaid storage bins for a large part of my
bricks, and I also use some of the lidded Lego boxes too (and 3033 bins).
I've got bins for things like:
1x? bricks
2+x? bricks
2-x? plates
3+x? plates
wings
45 degree slopes
33 degree slopes
wheels
arches
hinges
windows & doors
large animals
castle walls
etc, etc, etc,
I've also got smaller scale bins with multiple compartments for minifigs and
their accessories (and technic elements) (as I imagine most people have)
One downside to this is I can't see if I'm running low on a particular
piece-- drawers would definitely help in that department. But the most
annoying thing is probably the space issue. Drawers take up wall space. Bins
take up floor space or need to be stacked-- and when the bin you want is at
the bottom... sigh... you need to transplant all the bins on top :( Once I
get a house I'll probably switch to a drawer system (that seems to be the
best way to go, really), but for now I'm sticking with bins...

| I've been depriving myself of all LEGO construction the past month in order to finally sort all of my pieces. Using Akro-Mils units, I've just about completed my first run through the sorting process. My question relates to the sorting of bricks, (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)
