I've noted that with most of the things I've run across when trying to
secure volume discounts with a manufacturer, you wind up having to go to
the "container" or "half container" level to get a discount that doesn't
get eaten by shipping-- "container" being the size of a standard ocean
container, the sort that you drop on a chassis and call it a semi trailer,
a half-container is the 20' version of this.
I'd guess that figure would be on the order of 1000 for a half container,
2000 units for a 40' container.
...but it's probably worth looking into.
