  Re: Large Quantity sorting?

(...) I use the following categories in large IRIS drawers (counting upwards from the ground): * 1x2 and 2x2 bricks and plates * 1x3 and 2x3 bricks and plates * 1x4 and 2x4 bricks and plates * 1x6, 2x6, 1x12; 4x6 and 6x6 bricks and plates * 1x8, (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Large Quantity sorting?

(...) I keep my plates of 4x4 und larger in rings. That is, I connect them on one corner or one edge, creating an object. When working, I then have, for example, a ring of 4x6 gray plates from which I peel off plates as needed. Rings can be stacked (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Large Quantity sorting?

(...) Ah, the age old question... I'm still stuck on using bins, for the reasons that I mostly just don't want to sort down to the "all white 1x4's in this box/bin/drawer", and this method is very easy to move...(I've already moved my collection 3 (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Large Quantity sorting?

(...) Shaun, I use the Akron Mills bins for small pieces as you do. I have also used the LEGO buckets (old style work much better than new "anti-helmet" style) as mentioned. However, many years ago, I happened upon some kitchen trash cans (30 qt) (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Large Quantity sorting?

I sort Bricks using LEGO Tubs and Buckets. They are all sorted by type, for really common sizes like 2x4 and 1x4 I usually split up colors. For example I put Red, White, and Blue in one tub Black, Yellow, and Green in another and all other colors in (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Large Quantity sorting?

I've been depriving myself of all LEGO construction the past month in order to finally sort all of my pieces. Using Akro-Mils units, I've just about completed my first run through the sorting process. My question relates to the sorting of bricks, (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jun-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: GATS Sneak Peak

(...) Seen in: (2 URLs) getting more and more convinced I need to buy some of that wire rack shelving. Unfortunately, the consumer selection doesn't have the best sizes, but I may check out the restaurant supply store on South Saunders street and (...)   Source of Akro-Mils by mail order...

I don't use Akro-Mils cabinets, myself, but I recently found them in a store that offers mail order. It's a computer parts store called Halted Specialties, in Santa Clara CA. Their phone number is (408)732-1573, and their website is (URL) They have (...) (23 years ago, 26-May-01, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Drawers vs tilt-bins and scratching?

(...) Yes. I have 3 IRIS cabinets of 7 drawers each. [...] (...) The cabinets are about 5 feet tall, and contain 7 drawers each, in three sizes (deep, medium, and shallow). I sit in a chair with a TV table off to one side, where the (...) (23 years ago, 26-May-01, to lugnet.storage)

Re: A simple tray system using storage drawers

(...) Cool... Upside of that is that interior dividers will give the box torsional rigidity!!! Downside is that you have the parts scrabble problem. Anything with square corners is hard to get parts out of. Which is why I am currently enamored of (...) (23 years ago, 21-May-01, to lugnet.storage)
