Hi there I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on how to safely remove masking tape and packing tape from old lego boxes? I seem able to remove the tape without tearing but am left with a layer of extreamly sticky stuff - anyone got any (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jul-06, to lugnet.storage)

Doh! I wish you would have told me then! Odds are they just pitched the tubs, and I could have packed at least some of them in my car. I usually have to sort Lego that I've bought while in Orlando just so I can fit it in the car ;-) Though since Bley, the amount of Lego compared to other things bought on vacation pales to the past. I'm often forced to sort just to compact the Lego even further than just pulling bags out of tubs/boxes, but that's Lego bought on the vacations. (...) Well here's my usual plan of attack remove everything that is held on by only 1 or 2 studs. Things like tables and antennas come to mind. I tried using partscatalog to make labels, it can be done, but it is still all a bit manual for my liking. I think it would be good to think of a way to link up with a Peeron set/parts list, and build labels based upon those. I am not sure I have a (...) (19 years ago, 11-Dec-05, to lugnet.storage)
