Re: Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

(...) The bagging of components is good--so is bubble wrap. I'd also recommend using sheets of foam padding--they absorb impact, as well as providing "compartments" for your compartmentalized bags. Don't forget to pad all sides of the carton well (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage, FTX)

Re: Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

(...) This kind of stuff would be excellent material for a curator to collect... The trick is to consider what forces cause MOCs to disassemble. Vibration is one issue. Solidly constructed models will survive best from this standpoint. This is the (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage)

I wrote an article about this for Classic-Castle: (URL) that helps. -Lenny (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

(...) Hm. Besides bagging sections of MOCs, I would recommend: 1. Wrapping MOCs in towels or bubble wrap to fit a box...try to minimize open space in the box. On the other hand, do not pack too tight - the bubble wrap and towel keep the MOC from (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage, FTX)

Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

In preparation for the upcoming HOB event, I am becoming more and more concerned with how to transport my MOCs safely either as checked airline baggage or by over-nighting via a shipping company. I have found some helpful information by searching (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage, lugnet.events, FTX)

  Re: Moving Day

Good luck sir. I have been in your shoes before and I must say, getting back to a nice desk and MY assortment of bricks was indeed well worth the wait. When you do get settled, enjoy yourself. e (20 years ago, 29-Mar-05, to lugnet.storage)

  Moving Day

This coming Thursday is moving day. Detroit, MI to Franklin, NC. Everything is packed and ready to be loaded into the rental truck I am picking up on Wednesday.   Re: Summer Goal: Complete Sort & Storage

Yeah, yeah, I'm resurrecting my own thread ... so shoot me. Okay, here's the low-down: sorting got put on a hold for a long while for a variety of reasons, most of them revolving around work. I recently got back into "sorting mode". My red and light (...) (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.storage, FTX)

  Need recommendations for storage solution

I need some help finding a cheap, compact storage solution for my personal collection of technic parts. Ideally I'd like to sort it into part type then by color (example: technic bushes; black, lt gray, lt bley etc), and I'd like it to take up a (...) (20 years ago, 18-Feb-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) AAA...AAAHHH...HHH! I shouldve mentioned I'm a purist! (pukes) But I guess I wouldn't mind taking it apart to FIX it.... Though for that I'd like to be sure that there was no other way to fix the bulb first... A last resort type thing. (...) (...)   Re: STORAGE OF PARTS

(...) Larry, thanx for the extra info. Those do look interesting, although they are a little space-hungry when fully open. But I certainly like the vertical design for storing on shelves, rather having to stack them on top of each other like the (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

If it's a non-functional bulb, I'd think this would be an ideal opportunity to experiment with it and take it apart, to see if you can fit in a new lightbulb. It shouldn't be that difficult to accomplish. Perhaps you can even redesign it so it takes (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) Yes, yes, I tried those things too. I have another bulb of the same age from the same set on the other end of my loco, powered by the same battery box, and it's working just fine. I tried going backwards on the connections; first I put the (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) This may seem obvious, but if you're using a wire to connect it to a battery box, is it the wire? Does the battery box work properly? Does the battery itself work? Try checking out those parts too. -Bryan (20 years ago, 4-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(Not sure exactly where this should go) I have an old (say about 7-8 years old) electric light and sound brick 1 x 2 with top lamp that has never given me trouble until now. I tried clearing the muck off the contacts, rearranging it in various ways, (...) (20 years ago, 4-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: Sorting Bley and Chocolate Brown

(...) It's because of shows that I'm more strict with colours. I've been working on the track bed of my railway layout, using lots of packs of grey plates. It wouldn't look right with bley or dark bley ballast. Besides that, the old grey track (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)
