#7191 UCS X-Wing brief review —David Simmons
Well, after passing my driving test on the first try I decided to get myself a present to celebrate. Armed with TLG's coupon for $15 off, I headed to my local TRU (Emeryville, CA). They had all the new SW sets including the Millenium Falcon (I'll (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) A 1x4 flat gray piece should fix that... I used a 1x2 & that looks nice. (...) I haven't even finished mine yet. Spending as much time as I possibly can on it (one wing per day etc)... :-) Has anyone tried creating landing gear for it, by the (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) Less packaging means less cost passed on to consumers...however...since I emerged from my dark ages in March '99, a nagging disappointment of mine has been the demise of the sturdy presentational boxes that Lego used to offer. IMO, the box (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)

The Kenner figure works pretty good. It's a tight fit, and I had to do some disassembly of the cockpit to get him in, but otherwise - it's a nice fit. A side note - the Tie Fighter cockpit has much more room and it's quite easy to fit a pilot in. (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) I have to agree with you completely on this one. I feel as if I've gone to a cafeteria, and the server has slapped some food on my tray and that's my lunch. Horrible presentation - here are your pieces, now go play and leave us alone. The (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)

HAR HAR! Good one, Bryan. The cafeteria analogy had me rolling. That's a perfect summation of my initial impression upon opening the box.    (...) Mine ended up angled slightly upwards, too. I think this is intentional. If you look closely at the instructions, when the mechanism is set to the position where the wings would be open, the top brackets are angled very high and the bottom (...)    (...) so (...) I can just see the header on the memo in the product development division, "One month wait necessary for the wings to sag to their proper alignment. Should the consumer be informed?" What I can't figure out is why they didn't copy the (...) (24 years ago, 2-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) Dave, your idea about the cylinders, yes I tried it in a minifig scale X-wing (I use the term minifig scale reluctantly) I built a couple of years ago. This ship was 4-studs wide for the entire length of the ship. I had built an X-wing with 1 (...) (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.starwars)
