Well, it appears the new stuff is popping up everywhere now.  The usual
selection of 2000 sets mentioned in prior postings has appeared in CT (near
Enfield, no surprise there) at Wal-Mart stores.

I was told by my wife that I was only allowed to buy ONE SET for myself, and
that I must wait for Santa to bring me the rest (freakin' elf!).

I just got home with my shiny new Slave-I, and thought I'd share some
commentary on this exquisite set:

1.  UNIQUE PIECE:  clear orange 1x1 headlight piece.

2.  DARK GREY mini-fig hands on Boba!  Never seen THESE before...also, his
helmet and jetpack are fused into one piece...

3.  LITTLE KNOWN FACT:  Boba Fett is black!  Actually, he's too black to be
African-American.  This is jet-black black.  They gave him a black mini-fig
head, similar to the Speeder Bike Pilot heads.  :-)  GOOD!  I'm glad to see
Lando wasn't the only one.  Now how about a nice, brown mini-fig head please?
Enough with the jaundice.  OK, off the box...sorry.  I'm caucasian...am I even
allowed to be peeved?  :-)

4.  SLOPE HEAVEN.  As nobody can deny from the pictures early on, this set was
going to be the motherload of slope parts.  Out of only 156 parts, fully and
precisely one-third of them are slope pieces, counting 52!!

Here's the slope inventory:

1x2 (green) - 8 pcs.
1x3 (brown) - 2 pcs.
1x3 inverted (dk. grey) - 4 pcs.
2x2 (green) - 16 pcs!!
2x2 (grey) - 1 pc.
2x2 corner (grey) - 2 pcs.
2x2x4 (green) - 4 pcs!
2x3 (brown - 33 degrees) - 4 pcs.
2x4 (green - 24 degrees) - 2 pcs.
4x2 (grey - 45 deg) - 4 pcs.
4x2 (brown - 45 deg) - 2 pcs.
2x10x2 arch (brown) - 2 pcs.
4x4x3 canopy (trans. dark grey) - 1 pc.

5.  ALL AROUND BEST PART INVENTORY EVER!  Well, in this size set.  What an
assemblage of color!  Here's every twelve colors found in the parts:

White (4 pcs)
Grey (loads)
Green (heaps)
Dark Grey (15)
Blue (7)
Red (3)
Yellow (2)
Beige (2 curved wing pcs)
Black (about 25 inc. technic-style parts)
Brown (18)
Trans. Dark Grey (2 canopy pcs)
Trans. Orange (2 1x1 headlight housings and 5 2x2 dishes)

6.  HAN LOOKS REALLY FUNNY.  My only gripe is the age-old whining about how the
1x2x5 black "carbonite" brick with silver imprinting should have been a
dedicated piece with molding, like the sarcophogi in the Adventurers sets,
instead of this comic relief of a piece.  Oh, well.

----------

Run out and grab 'em, there were only three left on the shelves.  I only wish I
had an extra Hamilton on me...I wanted that Flash Speeder.  I don't care what
my wife says!!!  I want a GREEN Christmas, but I want it NOW!!!  :-)

(...) As mentioned elsewhere, 6195 has this piece; since I have one but it is unopened, yet I still have several loose 1x1 trans-neon-orange headlight pieces, there must also be another set (the Crystal Crawler?) that had them. (...) Didn't one of (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) I can't beleive no one else pointed this out, but: The Speeder Bike Pilots don't have black minifig heads. They have yellow minifig heads with a black "visor" over the place where their eyes would be, which shows through the helmet. Boba Fett (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)
