Okay, I was thinking.... with all the talk regarding the MF, and the
cockpit, why not have a little contest. Everyone break out your graph
paper.... okay LDraw, whatever you want to use, and let's see if anyone can
work out a cockpit that can fit 2 figs side by side. Preferably using the
canopy piece that comes with the set. I rather like the look of it, though
unfortunately it is only 6 dots wide (dots or pegs? what do we call those
things?). I have been trying to make it work out. I would like to have it
figured out by the time I get this set.

It's actually quite easy if your minifigs don't mind "getting a little
closer."  You can put minifigs side by side (w/ no studs between them if you
lean on forward and put her arm forward while leaning the other back and
putting his arm back.  Assuming the MF comes with Han and Leia, this could
effectively model Han getting fresh with Leia.  Han and Chewie together might
be a bit too strange.

In this configuration, the two minifigs take up 4 studs plus 1/2 stud on
either side--perfectly within the thin sidewalls.  I really don't think the
curve of the cockpit will interfere with this.  Of course if they made a tall
Chewie, there could be a problem.

I think we are going to see allot of customizing of this set when it comes
out. But that's okay! That is  part of the fun. Folks seem to expect LEGO to
do everything for us, exactly the way we want it done. But that' silly. Even
if it doesn't have an interior (which I fully expect it will), how hard do
you really expect it will be to add one? The only place I can see as perhaps
being impossible to work out, will be the corridor to the cockpit.... I just
don't think that can happen as long as there is a saucer section there. Not
sure what, if anything, I will do about it.

My first mod will be to lose the saucers--at least the top ones.  I've been
thinking that four saucer sections together would be perfect for those Hoth
shield generators.

Anyway, let's see some positive thinking. If you feel you've been given a
lemon... then make lemonade, and share your ideas with us! (okay that was a
little corny, but I couldn't resist)

Let's see . . .  To make lemonade, cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the
insides.  Sounds about right for the MF :-)

I'm wondering what to do about the cockpit.  The front part of the LC piece is
fine, but it extends way too far back.  Hmm, I've never (intentionally)
mutilated a Lego piece before, but . . .

I think the tie cockpit pieces do OK for the side portals, and the mandibles
may just need to be a little taller and have some "mechanical" looking pieces
added, much like Ben and others have done.

I really wish we had a rear view of the MF to see how they handled the engine.
Hopefully it will be well done.

Anyone care to lay odds on the MF coming with a second cannon?
