It may have had little screentime, but that is the _first_ Star Wars
ship anyone ever saw in the movie theatres, and that specific scene is one
of the most memorable in modern cinema. If you walked up to ten random
people and showed them the RBR and any MC capital ship and asked them which
movies each one came from, you could tell the true fans by the fact that
they'd know they were both SW ships, whereas one-time viewers might
recognize the RBR and think the MC ship was from some other movie like Alien.

I agree that it's an interesting design, for much the same reasons that
I think the Borg Cube is so interesting, but the fact of the matter is it's
just not an iconic symbol of Star Wars.

It's probably even be more recognizable than the X-Wing (and less
likely to draw accusations of treason), due largely to the fact that we see
a lot more scenes involving the MF. I'd still lean towards preferring a
Slave I, but I'm also not dumb enough to think it'd happen before the MF
gets it's due. Then again, the TIE Fighter did get skipped over in favor of
the TIE Interceptor...
