In answer to my own problem, I busted out Sebulba's pod and used 4 black 2x2
'L' plates and a dk gray 1x8 plate for each wing.
My solution (sorry, don't have a .dat file) is this:
Take off the offending lt gray 2x10 plate. Attach the 'L' plates like so:
1122 3344---- <- Key: 1,2,3,4 L plates, ----- guns
1 C2 3C4---- C visible click-hinge, H where the hinges connect
H H
MAIN MODEL
Now, slap the 1x8 plate on like so:
PPPPPPPP4
1 2 3 4
It seems to hold up to playing (took it to the office and some colleagues
zoomed it around), and it doesn't look half-bad. Only wish I had some white
Ls. :)
Anyway, I'm asking again, I think LEGO released a somewhat mildly defective
model. Is there any channels to let LEGO know?

I wonder if we can't get LEGO to do something about it? I (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)
