  Imperial Shuttle

Before I go into a small problem I had with the shuttle, here's my thoughts: It's a really cool set! The thing is almost entirely white, which is a good contrast against the black and blue tie fighters available. The top fin is much more stable than (...) In lugnet.starwars, Zak Arntson writes: <snip> (...) <snip> Hi Zak, You are correct in thinking the wings should fold down lower. I switched the 2x10's with 1x10's. It works and looks fine. Now, with only a 1x10, there is less support for the wing, (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

That's what I was thinking, a 1x10 ... but I want to keep the sturdiness for playing (I zoom the thing around a lot). Nothing real sturdy comes to mind, but maybe I'll go play around a bit. I wonder if we can't get LEGO to do something about it? I (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

In answer to my own problem, I busted out Sebulba's pod and used 4 black 2x2 'L' plates and a dk gray 1x8 plate for each wing. Hey Joe. I saw your shuttle modifications in Brickshelf, I noticed that you also placed the two grey 1X2 grill tiles on a different spot on the wing. I did something similar which allows the "wings" to fold up more accurately, i.e., closer to the (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Imperial Shuttle

(...) Actually the wings were originally supposed to be vertical at landing, not pointed in towards the vertical wing. In Return of the Jedi, where the shuttles first appeared, the wings were vertical when the shuttle was "parked." I'm not sure (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) We watched the original ROTJ a few days ago (actually, my sons watched, I caught a few scenes). I saw one shot of a shuttle landing (or maybe launching), and the wings were clearly angled inwards. So this is part of the original movie. Steve (23 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Imperial Shuttle

(...) I watched that scene as well, after I made my comment... The wings are angled inward, however not to the point of touching the large fin. The wings can be seen in various positions when "parked" in ROTJ. The main one I remembered seeing were (...) (23 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.starwars)
