William,
I made some sliding doors for "The Artemis" that I feel are both eficient
and "futuristic" seen in the lower part of this photo
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=33480
as well as the back side of another door of the same type (extreme lower of
picture)I used 6X6 plates a couple of 1X4 tiles and the one brick high
panels (part #4865) and (part # 6231) as a stop. (although you can used
bricks also)
http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=panel
to "sandwich" the plate tile combo keeping it both upright and allowing it
to slide open and closed in a relativly small foot print.
another view of the dorr back showing the door track a little more clearly
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=33481 sorry its a little fuzzy.
hope this helps

| I'm tearing my hair out trying to add internal doors to my latest MOC. I have built several staterooms/cabins, but have been unable to come up with a decent door mechanism. The doors that Lego makes are not futuristic-looking enough for my taste. (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.space)
