Yeah it does, kinda.  I forgot how much structure it had underneath the bow.
But the Nebulon (not sure if that's right either) is much narrower.  Ship
looks like
it got squashed between two asteroids.  The Explorer, being a carrier, is
actually pretty darn wide.  The Voltron robot used to stand sometimes on the
forward part of the launch deck.  In plan view the ship was pretty large (man
I wish I had more pix!)..., kind of like looking down on a US Navy
supercarrier.  And speaking of which, the Explorer would frequently do
terrestrial landings, but in large bodies of water.  When set down, all of
that lower structure was completely submerged, leaving just the launch deck
stuff out of water.  It really did look like an aircraft carrier...

(...) related...? (...) Wow - that thing would draw a lot of water with that lower superstructure. So much for landing near shore or in a bay.. it'd hit bottom if it's as big as you're saying it should be! It's a neat looking design, though, maybe a (...) (24 years ago, 14-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)
