Using the six Technic axel holes on the outer side of the lid (which still accept axels even with the minifig levers stuck in the other ends, albeit not as deeply as if the levers weren’t in there), you could connect a bunch to a central structure and make a huge LEGO minifig space colony. Or, simply use them as cargo containers for your giant spaceship MOCs.”

Now that is a great idea. Except I only have one Bionicle set, so I can’t build a giant housing complex.

One? Yikes, now I feel like such a Bionicle victim: I’ve got about 60-70 of them. :-)

That housing complex idea is just the kind of thing I was thinking of. If stood on end and used as a base, the lid can have bricks attached directly to it, right over the little ends of the minifig levers and onto the studs. I’ve already made one that has a tiny two level habitat inside, with a ladder connecting the two floors. Another cool idea (when using the Toa Nuva lid) would be to remove the center Technic Ball, run an axle up through the hole in the center of the lid, hook a motor up to it on the outside, and have something rotate on the inside of the canister.

I think I had about 50 of them already when KB dropped the price to $1 each, so I (...) (20 years ago, 28-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
