Allister this ship is great! I have no problem with the color scheme, very
spacey indeed, very neat. And so much playability! I guess any kid would go
with thumbs up for this MOC. Great level of details, greebles on the back
spin of the ship. The fact you made that container loadable / unloadable,
with the magnets, hmmmmmmm, its like the sherry on top of the cake! Bravo!
As usual a great MOC!

Thanks Jean-Pascal. Playability is becoming more popular in .space these days. I
dont always aim for that myself, but the boy appreciates it when I do, and it
helps when the model pleases me aesthetically as well.

Allister, this is an excellent MOC and a wonderful contest entry. Aside from
the clean and straightforward design and colour scheme, what strikes me the
most about this model are its anthropomorphic qualities. You made it seem as
though the spacecraft is grabbing garbage with its hands and then
devouring it into its mouth, and then digesting it into its rear-end.
Thats all too much for me! Haha! Such hilarity. Nicely done.

Thanks Mladen. That was very much the Quark influence working there. In keeping
with the show I tried to give it a certain humourous quality. Hence the teeth
and cartoony arms etc. Im glad it came across.

I think this thing is great. I dont like the colors, though intellectually,
they seem right, it just doesnt work in my mind, maybe its because all the
garbage trucks around here are dark green.
|
I can understand that, but garbage trucks here have a white cab and blue bin.
Besides I dont have anywhere near the same parts selection in green, otherwise
I would have considered it.

Anyways, this seems to be a really
well thought out and well designed MOC. I think the shape is great, just the
right chunkiness for the task. The arms are great, and the garbage depositing
mechanism is quite clever, when I saw the first pic, I was wondering how it
got anything inside, and then BAM!

Id never heard of this Quark and his garbage ship, but it looks interesting,
thanks for adding that in there.

Its worth checking out. It only ran one season before being axed, and Ive
never seen it repeated, but the pollinating scene is one of the funniest things
ever shown on television.

Thats cool. I agree with Mladen - I really like how it feeds itself then
sends it on out the other end. The container by itself is pretty cool too, I
really like the look of it. Nifty detailing, my only quibble would be that
theres a few too many colors going on, but its not your fault they dont
make those nifty click-hinge bits in white. :-)

Thanks Chris. Apart from the blue and white theres really only neutral tones in
there. I tend to think of the arms as exposed, hard wearing mechanisms and as
such the greys and black are justified. I think theyd look more out of place in
white. Blue would be better, but again, they dont make those parts in blue. I
would have liked to make the black thruster parts in grey, but I didnt have the
3x3x2 cones in that colour either. Im content with the compromises made and the
overall look isnt too jumbled.
Cheers,
Allister
