The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

Comrades, The Office of the Jr.Marshal is pleased to announce the completion of its latest and greatest project: The Long-Range Interstellar Strategic Warship, the Kalashnikov. (2 URLs) Armed with six planetary nuclear weapons, three defence gun (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !

In lugnet.space, Leonard Hoffman wrote (...) Jr. Marshal Thats one hell of a celestial staff car, comrad. Its a tight design with extremely well executed greeblage. Although not a fan of the color, or political philosopy 'red', you pull it off quite (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Ummm, Admiral Giddens, sir... We're gonna need more firepower, sir... That said, great ship you have there. It very much feels like the type of ship and payload we might face in our own future, along the lines of the boomer today. It seems the (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

Very very nice! I enjoyed the progress you showed online of it and how it evolved. This ship fits a PCS scheme very well. I like how you did the exterior, using SNOT techniques, but putting greeb in there as well. I like the engines, and how they (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Very nice work. I like the balance of detailing and coloured slopes - although I'm not usually a fan of such over-greebling, for a PCS analogue it seems about right ;-) Are those side thingies 1/3 of the way along (with the canopies) (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Not too shabby at all. I was concerned that the colour scheme might not work whilst looking at the progress pictures, but while it is fairly jumbled, it works. It adds to the greebling effect I think. You've taken the angled wall idea you've (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Long live the Revolution! I really like the overall shape of this ship and the way you made the greeblies really a part of the design and not something you whipped up later. Congrats and love, Sylvi (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Excellent work, Lenny! During your construction pics, I wasn't quite sure what the end result was going to be. Would it be boxy? Would it be a flying tube? Would it be flat and wedge like? It all looked very promising, but the outcome was (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Went through all of the pics (URL) shows a real nice use of repeated elements. overall, its a good build, but here are a few comments: 1) the light grey is great for greebs but not so good for plates on this ship 2) the engines are too small (...)   Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) SEDITION! Exile him to Siberia, comrades! Hehehe. Nice ship ya got there, Lenny. Now we need some fighter escorts in the same color scheme :) -Spencer (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Aww...this is sooo sweet...damn, I wish my Dead 7's ship was like this....good job! Cheers! (P.S. Lenny, are you Russian? Just wondering. I'm half German and half Asian :won't tell what it is: ^ ^) (21 years ago, 5-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Looking good Lenny! Your best work so far. I like the overall shape, and the interior is nicely detailed. Oh, and are those modified Outer Rim nacalles I see? :) Very nice work, though allow me to make a few suggestions. 1. The overall look of (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Hey Paul, Thanks for the comments. Over-greebling? Heh, well, it's just so much fun to do, and i guess i tend to get carried away. The "side thingies" are escape pods, and maybe also mini-shuttles that could be re-used. However, there are (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

(...) Yeah, color was something that I decided to wait until the end to work on, relying on adding colored tiles and plates to the exterior. I imagine this as an early type of long range ship, so paint was added generally along a 'spine', except (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Kalashnikov is ready for Battle.

I was wondering on how to do it, until I saw your nacelles and had a wave of trekkie nostalgia. they are inspired by outer rim nacelles, but structurally pretty different. a mix between your idea and paul hartzog's cool engine thingie idea.
