hmmmmm...but would such a think lead to the cracking of the planetary crust
and a possible collapse of the planet's upper mantle?
What about the fuel source of the engines?
I think you would have to some silly Trek thing, like in the first episode
of DS9, and create a field around the planet that changes the effect of the
mass relative to the outside gravitational sources, thereby allowing a
bowling ball to be pushed by an ant.
What happens when the bowling ball rocks backward onto the ant? ;]
