Greetings!

My first attempt as somthing in the Pre Classic theme....

http://home.cogeco.ca/~gtoradoch/Misc/misc_pcsjump.htm

Now, for the experiment part.

After reading the recent discussions on critiques and their effects and
value in the forum, I was wondering was I do with constructive criticism
towards my MOCs.  I often receive such critiques, as we all do, and they are
appreciated in the spirit they are given....but what do I do with them?  I
have I ever gone back and altered a finished model, trying to incorporate
suggestions that I thought could enhance the design?  Have I built
variations on it afterwards, incorporating the suggestions?  Does spaghetti
really grow on trees?

Certainly I can say that I have learned from other builder's suggestions and
have incorporated them into later, different models, and have asked for
opinions during construction or planning, producing a better design thanks
to their input.  I don't think however that I've tried to improve a finished
design.

So, this one will be an experiment.  As always, all comments are welcome and
appreciated, but perhaps turn your critical eyes a little more towards this
one.  Once it's been out in the wild for a while and hopefully some notes
have come back, I'd like to take a look at it again and incoporate some of
the ideas suggested.  As we all know, we build for ourselves and our own
satisfaction so your critiques may be applicable or might not be depending
on how they mesh with the model.  This is a true community of artists -
people who inspire, educate and ground one another.  I would attribute much
of my enjoyment and personal satisfaction with the Brick to the silent
tuteledge of all the builders here.  I see this experiment as yet another
lesson for me...let the class begin!

Cheers,
-Gil

(...) Good job. I think it fits in well. Is there any particular CS set that you were reworking? (...) <snip> (...) Well, since you brought it up.... I like everything but the landing gear. They seem a bit clunky to me. The only improvement I can (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

Hey Gil. Well, let's see...as your feet are already firmly planted on Earth, I don't have to worry about your ego soaring to dizzying heights by saying this: The Jump Lander needs nothing more...it is complete and it's a masterpiece! Your creations (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) Hey, that's a cool MOC! I really like anything with a 'tri' shape to it. Suggestions: 1) Change the skis to something bigger; they don't look like they'd hold the ship up very well. 2) Add a bit more light gray to the rear end of the ship; the (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

Gil, you've not only caught the PSC feel perfectly, you've made it your own. I really, really like this one. Contrary to Chris' suggestion, I'd leave the rear foot as it is. It makes for a good tripod look - very NASA Landerish. I agree about the (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) <snip> Gil, this is awesome! I love the simple-ness of your designs. Such a cool zen-like quality.. I get a similiar feeling looking at Jon's Alphabet project ships. I think I'd have to agree with something someone else said about the color (...) (22 years ago, 14-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

this is really cool and its great to see the PCS line evolve I think Chris is the best one to help us all "get it right" but even w/out his guidance I think we can all contribute good mocs yours is a great start and a hard one to beat for simplicity (...) (22 years ago, 14-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

Very cool stuff, Gil! The overall shape is, as always, unique, and I like the use of that new ball joint as a thruster. And the PCS feel is captured well. Critisisms? Well, I like everything except the landing gear. IMHO its a bit too spindly, and (...) (22 years ago, 14-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) Nice - I can see some similarities to the original lunar module. If you REALLY want some critical comments, I can only say that maybe it would look more true to the PCS thing with an unprinted canopy. Your MOCs are constantly fresh, original, (...) (22 years ago, 14-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)

Greetings! A big thanks to everyone for their ideas, suggestions and kudos. I have put them together with some revamped sketching and have found definite improvements in the implementations. Just working on the mark II version and will post them (...) (22 years ago, 18-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)
