Hello All,

Here is a MOC for your approval.

Item 1 on today's vote, the Voodoo Child:
I second the MOC.  Any nays?
No? good...
The MOC passes unanimously.  Congratulations!
next item?

Tell me what you think. Any input would be welcome.
(Photography tips especially. I know I suck.)

Your photography if fine, there just isn't a lot of it.  For a model like
this, I would definately like to see a lot more angles and shots of detail.
If you aren't sure what angles to do, just swoosh it around a while and make
it do "passes" by your head like you're watching a movie until you find what
you're looking for.  It sounds silly, but swooshing is one of the unspoken
indulgences of .space    :D

Thangs dat I like:

the engines look great... they're big without out-doing the ship, they have
greebs in all the right places.  I'd have no problem believing this tech works.

the color scheme. white and grey with smatterings of color, always works IMHO.

The construction.  Using the panels as outer body with techy things filling
the holes... another can't miss technique.  The overall shape seems
referential to me of the main craft of Outlaw Star: long rocket-like body
with 4 large parallel engines aft, and cockpit location.

The cockpit area has been done before and its all good, but I like some of
the details you cooked up.  The crack on either side of the windshield is
cool.  If I were you I'd even play it up a little more by adding more greebs
in there.

The priate lookout bucket.  Didn't know that part came in grey, don't
remember seeing it used on a space MOC before.  Kudos for incorporating
something like that into a ship.

Thangs dat I don't:

a couple of the greebs are a bit too tacked-on for me.  Most of it looks
perfectly fine, but the binoculars on the aft end of the rear side greebly
(behind the light grey bar square) for example.  They just look like
binoculars attached to the ship.  Not sure if that's what you're intending
it to look like?

The rear angles on all those cylinders look great.  The engines look
awesome. The greebs are packed in there just right... and the rest of the
ship is left looking a little drab.
I'd love to see you balance that aft area with a bit or two projecting from
the fore area, or somewhere along the body near the front.  I know this is a
personal esthetic with me, so people may gonna disagree on this one, but I
think the flat space right behind the cockpit (above and below) is prime
estate for a manouvering thruster or something.

Do you have the curved clear panel that the cockpit uses?  Its a small
critisizm, but it looks unfinished without that part... prolly because its
such an important peice to have missing!

I agree wif Jon, this is a strong debut.  and there have been some amazing
builders creeping out of the woodwork.

keep it up!
Jk

(...) Thanks. I should have shown them swivelling. (...) Well, it WAS designed as a VES-X escort fighter. (...) Hmm. Not what I was trying for but you're right, it does. Although it actually has five engines. (...) It's on my revision list. (...) (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.space)
