New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Hello all, I'm not a frequent poster to Lugnet, much less to .space, but I thought I'd go ahead and solicit some feedback on my latest creation. It's been a while since I was able to just sit down and build (due to getting married, moving, and (...) (22 years ago, 12-Aug-02, to lugnet.space) !

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Jamie Neufeld
That's one cool ship, I like the look of it. Those Slave 1 canopys are great, I love them. Keep up the good work. Jamie www.ozbricks.com/jneufeld (...) (22 years ago, 12-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) overall, it just has a "clean" look that is hard to capture with legos. FWIW, the name "Parrotfish" gets my vote. :-, I know I've seen this before...dunno where. I'd love to see more! :-, Cheers, - jsproat (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Jeremy, Thanks for the compliments. I haven't done much with SNOT building before, so this was a fun exercise. the only part that isn't symmectrical is the interior of the cockpit. You may have seen an early picture I put up on Brickshelf a while (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Gil Shaw
(...) Congrats on all and welcome! (...) I saw this a little while ago on Brickshelf and noticed the interesting shape you've produced...I like it. The saucer section and the canopies really compliment one another. Don't be a lurker to (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Kyle Keppler
Now that's cool. One of the first MOC's in a whiel that made me say "cool". The shape is great. Allthough one thing I think would be muy neato would be a uber-greeblie engien on it. I approve. (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Kyle, Thanks. I've thought "Cool" about a few of your creations over the years. :) I'm still thinking about the engine(s). So far I haven't come up with anything that doesn't really detract from the overall look of the saucer sections. I might need (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Jonathan Mizner
     I like the Cuttlefish... It's a simple, interesting, symmetrical design. (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Jonathan, What kind of photos did you have in mind? More detail shots of the completed work, or shots of the construction methods? I do have higher-resolution versions of the pictures I posted, and I am thinking about uploading those soon. -Joel (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Jeff Jardine
(...) That's cool. How is it propelled? Ther doesn't appear to be any conventional sort of exhaust in the back. Jeff J (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Jeff, Currently, it is powered by imagination. :) I'm still working on designs for engines, but in the mean time, I thought the slits in the edges of the big saucer sections could count for something. -Joel (...) (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Jesse Alan Long
(...) Jeff, I have some easy suggestions for some shockingly good engines for a space craft. You know those Technic piston casings, the clear, weird looking LEGO bricks with the hole in the middle? Those and those computer chip or Aquazone crystal (...)         Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Steve Bliss
(...) Wow! That is an awesome creation! :) Later, Kyle Keppler wrote: (...) I'd leave the trailing edges alone, their lines are wonderful. But 'greebling up' the front flat surfaces (more than they already are) would be cool. :) And, Joel Hoornbeek (...) (22 years ago, 14-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Steve, Thanks for the kind words. I had the same feeling about the rear edges, which is why I didn't spend more time on engines. As for more greeblies on the front... I need to make a mess, and dig out a lot more of my pieces. :) My recent building (...) (22 years ago, 14-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Steven McDonough
(...) That looks really great. The only problem I have with it is you beat me to the design. Argg! Really I was working on a design that looks almost exactly like what you have made. My cockpit was slightly different but the rest is uncanny in its (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Paul Hartzog
hey that's a cool design. have you by chance seen this? (URL) the Panarchy has a new clue to the origin of the unidentified craft above? ;-) -paul (22 years ago, 18-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: the Cuttlefish —Joel Hoornbeek
Paul, No, I don't remember ever seeing that creation before. It's amazing, though, how similarly some people think when using certain pieces. :) -Joel (...) (22 years ago, 18-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)
