bridge designs for big space MOCs

I was wondering how some of the minifig spaceship creators here like designing their ship bridges. Most Lego ships only have small one-man cockpits, with a little computer console or some levers. My own ship under construction, the Nautilus ((URL) (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

Paul, (...) I actually do have a mock up bridge I built a few years ago around. It is fairly large, it has a captains chair, two seats next to him, two console in front, a view screen, a few lights for the various alerts, a back row of computer (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: bridge designs for big space MOCs

(...) I have two designs which I use. The first is a two-person cockpit using the trans-orange 6 high convex windows. The base is roughly 8 x 10 studs. The control panels are set at a 45 degree slant using tilt bearing hinges, a 2 x 10 plate and (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) corridor sections. However, I only have a few b&w pictures: (URL) (see the forequarters and looming). Marathon's bridge had a seat on a platform in the centre, a 4x4 viewscreen held out at the centre front, and four two- and three-computer (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) You should see it IRL. I have a larger variety of computer tiles spread out across the cockpit. From a distance it looks real intimidating when you see all of those buttons and displays. I think it captures some realizm with that effect. (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: bridge designs for big space MOCs

(...) I've only done a small amount of bridge work. One, really. My perpetually-unfinished large-spaceship project includes a bridge where the entire shell is made from the transparent 12high quarter-dome pieces. The idea was to give the crew as (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: bridge designs for big space MOCs

I believe that LEGO spaceships _never_ have enough terminals in them. I have a MOC stuntfighter (sort of based on the [really, really old] 6861 X-1 Patrol Craft) which uses both an old-style monitor brick and a control brick, as well as a pair of (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) Drool! And grumble... Drool, because the design is really a feast for the eyes. Nice job. Grumble, because I was hoping to be the first to use eight of the quarter-dome pieces to assemble a spherical enclosure. You have essentially done that (...) (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

I built a three-foot ship once ('once' being the key word - the thing got demolished about a week after I finished it *and I forgot to take pictures!*) that originally had two of the big blue quarterdomes laying on their sides (vertical didn't (...) (...) I doubt I was the first. :) You may be interested in an RTL thread, from Dec-96/Jan-97. It was started by a clueless newbie who just got a 6958 Android Base, and was excited about the dome pieces. Actually, I wasn't that new, I just didn't (...) (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: bridge designs for big space MOCs

(...) I designed a new bridge last night on my friend's mid-sized big gun cruiser thingy. (Crew of >20 with lots of nooks and crannies to cram necessary items - probably 3-4 feet long, 10 inches tall, and VERY sturdy) It turned out really nice, but (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-00, to lugnet.space)
